They're not exactly fascinating. Proto-cells don't differentiate much, but I tried to make them as distinct as possible. Well, we can critique and make a balance. Original is 1600 by 1200

When a player's cell absorbs a given number of #17 - Gluers (Which could be quite rare to give a lengthy microbe stage), it gains the ability to "stick" to other cells of its kind, forming cellular colonies. At this point, the player can become a multicellular organism by bonding with as many cells of its type as possible.
However It will only be able to replicate the whole colony if it has assimilated enough #19 - Sharers, so the player must assimilate enough sharers before entering Multicellular stage. These are essentially early gametes. During Multicellular/Colony organisms will evolve different ways of their dispersal EG. Flagella a la sperm, Drifters a la pollen, or other methods (anything which involves contact between the two). At a proto-cell or prokaryotic level they could look like this:

I'm diggin this image. It makes the whole cell stage so much more artistic. Honestly, if we could get 2D colorful cells like this on a greyscale background it would look awesome. Those worms would be individual pieces/segments, so each segment would be it's own image. In fact, if we did make it colorful like this we would make each cell's image white, that way we could change the color in game.

I dunno. I was hoping to see a very murky, soupy celly stage. You know, play off the whole "Primordial Ooze" thing.

| I'm not sure about the look of the Heat-Eater. It seems to be significantly more complicated than the others. I imagined it to look something like a raisen, as a way to maximize surface area but still be simple. | |

Heat-eater was based off of streptococci bacterium that actually live off of heat alone.

| Okay, i finished this during my break at work yesterday. This is why i take my laptop with me on Saturdays.

I'm aware that there's a weird wobble thing about three quarters of the way through the animation, but i can't for the life of me figure out what i did wrong. I might start the animation process again next time i do work on it, and see if i can fix it that way.

I'm not sure of how to export/create texture maps in 3Ds or whatever you are using.

I'll have to look into those next time i fiddle with it. I THINK there's a rather easy way, considering that it's just a closed-end cylinder. I'll get back to you soon, with a map.

Usually all you need to do to unwrap it is find the tools and, in this case, make an incision down one of the long lines of polys. The unwrapped texture should look like a stretched lemon.

| Very, very nice. Obviously not a final product, but a wonderful start.
That makes me wonder, maybe could we rag doll it and have only the end section wriggle, leaving the rest to follow? It would be a belgium to code the original ragdolling info, but it would let us play around with whole slews of animations that would look better and react nicer with the environment, not to mention we'll need to start working on ragdolls and associated animation styles anyway.

Well, i have no clue how to go about this :p So, uh, until someone does i'm not sure that we'll be able to do it. I may look it up if i get time, though.
