| Maxis just released this video for Sim City. We've tended to build off their shoulders in the past, and I think that the techniques shown here should be no exception. A direct correlation between what's shown on screen and what mechanics are in play is something we've been gearing for, so any investigation of their methods might be beneficial.
In other news, I was wondering if there's been any sign of roadkill or any of our other programmers? I've been lurking for a little bit, without much to contribute at the moment, but I'm getting increasingly worried that he might disappear. I know it hasn't been that long, but Bashi's departure has left me somewhat paranoid. If we can get a running prototype for either part of our mechanics or the game engine itself, I'd feel much more comfortable.

| I now lurk most of the time because I don't find much to post about. I have the Roadkill's engine base wich I converted to SFML, so if you provide me with some art and a concept I could whip up something really simple. | |

You guys should go to the organ design thread. Would it be possible for you to write code for the planets like we've been discussing?

| Not sure about the planet, it is very complex stuff. What about the cell stage once again? How is the org. editor supposed to work and look in it? The gameplay and environment would be a thousand times easier than space and a simple editor shouldn't be too bad either.
Just throw me the current concepts here and I'll try to brew something out of them.

I'll try to come up with a good editor- I think cell stage should be mainly about evolving different organelles, but not everything has to come in through endosymbiosis. We could actually make it fairly complex and start auto-evo in cell stage, with only one biome.

If we can do this, it should give us the perfect testing ground to make sure our concepts are functional.

Roadkill made the basic infrastructure, the boring part wich I was never good at. We can add or remove stages at will, so I can start on the cell stage right away. As for the editor, keep in mind it does not need to be anything complex, the cells will probably be simple enough and we will need to focus more on the gameplay itself (and possibly autoevo),.

| I got really sick of rewriting the phase-switching stuff so I actually made a phase-switching library for all of my projects. Were you never able to commit that sfml change? | |

| I just gave up after the first few tries and then it didn't come to my mind until I saw this thread. All I can give you is the source download link I have posted earlier. | |

Also, why isn't this guy an admin yet? Yeah, I need to get ADMIN to make roadkill a mod.
