| The past 2 weeks I was quite quiet since I had technical issues with my computer. I am back again now. I will try to return to my early January activity level.
Also, RTS fans don't worry, I am brimming with concept on the Strategy Mode, here on my Desktop. I am going to wait for the first release of Microbe Stage to come out, and then I will start doing those threads and discussions on Strategy Mode again. I also have a lot of nice charts and tables and layouts ready. I've basically covered Economics, Technology, Religion, Politics, and Society.

| Hi.
As people might have noticed, I haven't posted much lately. This is due to a number of reasons, including real-life busyness (not a typo, it's an actual word) (it's due to exams and stuff), my interests in gaming shifting to puzzle/strategy games (because it doesn't look like any evolution simulators with any kind of gameplay other than Thrive will ever actually be made, unfortunately), and not having much to add to discussion (which is now getting quite technical, which is good in many ways, but my speciality is mainly in giving cool science-fiction ideas, which isn't very helpful for now).
So I'm not exactly going to be offline, just not visiting as regularly. Think of me as not exactly on the line, but hanging from it with one foot and a paperclip. If I find a topic which seems to be quite interesting, I'll give my ideas, but mostly I'll just be checking in periodically from now on. It's not exactly leaving, but as a person who has been checking in very regularly for many years, I think it's worthy of mention. It also shows that after all this time I am finally confident that Thrive is in the hands of good people with the ability to make it into something real.
I'll finish by saying good luck, and I hope our project succeeds, because in a world of first-person shooters and racing games being the most popular genres, we seem to be one of a minority of games with any proper ambition anymore. Once evolution and space games fill those positions, then the world will finally be a bit more sane.
P.S. To balance that compliment bomb, I'll finish by saying that starting a post with ‘Hi.’ is strange, and, other than in welcome posts, should be avoided, and then give absolutely no reason for it.
P.P.S. I still think Thrive is awesome. That's one of the unquestionable facts of the universe.

| It's been great having you along for the ride The Uteen!
It is reassuring to know that you still "hang from a foot and a paperclip" , and I very much appreciate your confidence in us.
That is very true of the gaming community. I can't wait until Spore comes out, but since it never did, Thrive is its successor.
Alas, it seems like our journey together diminished here. We, or at least I, will always be ready to welcome you back anytime in the future that you drop in.
Good luck with your studies!

| It's been great having you here. You're a veteran member (you go all the way back to "Evolutions!" don't you?) who I've enjoyed working with. Your unique sense of humor and constantly helpful critiques will be missed here. It's really a bit sad for me that you won't be here to offer assistance, ideas, and long, pondering, but entertaining comments that don't quite accomplish everything you wanted them to. Good luck in whatever you do, I hope you've learned as much as I have during your participation here. When we need you badly at Thrive again, I'll be sure to message the Uteen Citadel.

| An update then. Would have been earlier, but I actually was offline for the past week, on holiday. I sort of forgot to mention that in my longpost, sorry.
Firstly, thanks for your replies, and I hope I can continue to be of help to everyone, even if I'm not around as often. In response to Scio, I think Thrive has probably taught me quite a lot - in game design, fringe science, (exo-)biology, and how online communities can have what I will (probably never again) call a ’hive-personality’. This game in its nature will probably teach anyone who develops it, and eventually anyone who plays it, something they didn't know, based on the incredible attention to detail (a.k.a. almost casual discussion of very advanced science) put into the recent microbe concept discussion. Also, thanks for Nick's response, and welcome to Untrustedlife!
So, I plan to continue to check in every now and then and have a look at the active topics, but it hadn't occurred to me how hard following our conversations actually is without having read everything that came before! Still, I'll try to keep up to date with anything major, but if there's anything else that you think I should have a look at then feel free to send me a PM.
I'll be off now to eat my recently received collection of three full-size easter eggs. If my body is still functioning afterwards, I'll see you later.
Warning: That was a joke - I don't plan to eat them all at once, and certainly don't recommend trying it, at home or anywhere else, to anyone, unless their easter eggs are made from something healthy, like cabbage, cereal bars, or hydrogen hydroxide.

| Belgium guys...long time no see. I don't know if this is the right place to post but I might aswell.
The last time I posted was nearly two years ago.I just went over my last posts and I can really see how I've matured over those two years. So many things have changed in my life since then (heck, since I found about and joined the E! forums, remember that place?! XD) that I've just let this thing go. It would pop into my mind now and again but I truly thought I would never come back here.
It's amazing what a goddamn Reddit post can do FFS.
Anyways, it seems that scio, US of A and a few others have really kept this thing together and I really want to thank you guys. My technical expertise is still limited to, as Uteen put it, sci-fi ideas and concepts and I don't know what I can still add as it now seems this is shifting towards the next 'stage', but I hope to be active again.
Nice to see you all and HELLO PROGRAMMERS.

| YB: Welcome back to Thrive! Things have changed a lot now since 2 years ago, but the current team is mostly a new generation. It's great to see someone from the antiquity of the project.
Scio: Haha, that's good.

Since I'm a programmer, HELLO. Welcome back I think thrive will always need people willing to design concepts by putting lots of time/tought in it. It just make it easier for programmer afterward! - The Uteen wrote:

I don't think I've seen that Reddit post. I'll have to have a look at that. You don't know Reddit ? If you want to keep your life, just don't go, it's so easy to lose time over there!! If you go, then download the Reddit Enhancement Suite Plug-In(Works on Chrome), it make the site much more convenient by seeing all image on the front page and much much more. I can't use reddit without it now. - ~sciocont wrote:

| So, I'm leaving the 27th of May for an Archaeology dig. I'll be working more on orgaizing organs and mucking around with food webs and their connection to population dynamics (assuming that the amazing Seregon hasn't solved it all by then,) when I return on the 4th of July. In the meantime, could another mod keep an eye on the organ design thread? It's doing quite nicely by now, I'd hate for it to sputter and die when we're steadily getting suggestions.
Thanks, ~ Calli | |

| Hey Calli - I'd actually still meant to welcome you back, but that seems a little backward now, so enjoy your trip!
I've actually not touched the biome/food web concepts as a lot of work had been done on them before, and so long as we have them it should fit together reasonably nicely with compounds/pop-dynamics. I'd be very interested to see what you develop, and help out when I can.
I'm also not going to be around much for the next month or so, while I finish my thesis. I may not have internet access at all for some of July, though I'm not sure yet. Either way, I'm not going to be able to do much work on Thrive, and will only be posting here occasionally (unlike the last few days).

| @Will: A temple in Israel. I am second sub-assistant dirt-relocator.
@Seregon: We can work on it when we all get back. Biomes are pretty close to done, but last I heard we were still fuzzy on resources, niches (and how they're created, holy cow,) and nutrients. Plus, it would be great to spell out the connection between resources, biomes, and population dynamics.
Good luck with the Thesis! I'm only doing the undergrad Thesis version, I assume that yours is a thing from Belgium.
@ Cheese & Untrustedlife: Thanks, guys.
@Untrusted: Yes, that would help. So would checking to see if the new posts are repeats, as you've already been doing to some extent.

I look forward to it. My thesis isn't actually that much longer than what I did for undergrad (150 pages vs about 60, so far...). The problem is more the sheer amount of pressure to make it good, and right now it's looking awefully tame and boring compared to some of the stuff I get to play with here... Also, good luck with yours, is that for this year or next?
