Microbe Prototype #2

not yet (i will put it in its own reply when It is done uploading and change the main post) like I said it is taking forever to upload for some reason.

Here it is guys, sorry about the long wait I have had a ridiculous amount of school work, Martial arts, my job and a ton of things happening right now, I have had problems with my knee )going o the doctor for it on Thursday) and because of all of this I have been really busy and not had much of a chance to program. I will update my main post soon, and this comes with a read-me file which details controls and changes. Expect a new release tomorrow. As this version is somewhat incomplete

I've only run one simulation so far, bit it seems really nice. The currents are a lot stronger than in the last prototype, and it seems that the environment is a lot more competitive. Other than that, I don't know exactly what's changed. The new bacteria and green zones' purpose is still unclear to me, though I'm sure it's something you put in there at my request, I just don't know exactly what it is. It's still a ton of fun to watch, even though I have little control. I do have a list of things I'd like to see implemented, but I'll save it. Green and orange zones are : Light and Heat spots (this is where creatures with chloroplast or thermoplast will go to get energy once they hit a certain point where it is the most efficient for them ( I am not sure how to make a temperature/light map.. (but I guess I could try that if you prefer) good to know it is good, was somewhat worried .

Alot of underlying non-noticeable stuff has changed, I had t o completely rewrite the way flagella / water currents work, a-lot of math.. I had to basically rewrite everything that has to do with anything. It will be far more easier to update now that I have this implemented...

Currents actually use valid fluid dynamics to move things around now.
Everything has force acting on it now, before things were moved manually now the physics engine does all of that (My friend greg is a physics major, he helped me to code the physics engine)

You have to click and hold to get your cell to move to a place.. need to change that in the readme, woops, sorry. I also gave you guys the incorrect version

Haha, yeah That's a bit of an issue. No worries, thanks for clearing that up. It's really cool that that's all a real-time simulation. I'll be awaiting the intended version, and we can talk about how to implement lightmaps, heatmaps, bacterial maps, and all sorts of other things soon.

Should I add a link to this prototype on the website or not, seeing as it's not officially been released on ModDB? Either way I'll update the site as soon as I can today (you were right, ~scio, the header looks much better with black borders). This will mean it'll be down for a few minutes, which normally wouldn't be too much of a problem, but since it's now been released on ModDB ( ) there might be a little more traffic.

He is working on it. Someone else noticed on Facebook and Untrustedlife started to look into it.

Its been months since the download link was reported as broken and no-one has done anything about it. I really want to see this prototype, because what its does is really interesting and I bet many others besides me would love for this to be fixed.

The last time I saw the prototype, it was pretty outdated compared to the resources we have now. I would recommend waiting till the end of the year when supposedly the first version of the game will be released. I wouldn't count on it being exact either. Game-making can be unpredictable and wonky at times.

Well why not release a new version that actually shows off this ai prototype in a better light? Well I just want to see this one since I actually doubt there will be another prototype like it.

Oh that's good.

Sorry if this wasn't clear, development on THIS prototype has been ceased, if i do any more programming on the game (and i will when i have time) it will be on the actual game. I would have kept working on it, but things came up and i ended up getting a newer much better computer and lost the source code for my prototype.

I would appreciate it if this topic was locked.
