So I think the biggest problem for Spore was lack of depth. While our game will have more complex evolution and editors. I think we need to think of cool/quirky things you can do in each stage so it can add more fun and LOTS of replayablity. I'll post what we really should be able to do.

-Attack/Ally other empires
-Teraform
-Trade with empires
-Obtain (IN-DEPTH) missions from other empires (for example investagate/kill/find certain resource/form better relations etc.)

Really, I'm imagining simple, yet brillianty fun things that are available to the player.
Take for example The Sims 1&2 games.
The missions log were so funny and quirky and really added an element of depth to each person.
We could have say, 'study XXX animal due to it's strange form on a planet' or 'take a picture of a spectacular star gazing event to sell to the public.'

We'd have pop-up messages like "The XXX empire wants to obtain some of your planet's trees. They seem to love the colours..." or something along those lines.

I hope I'm getting somewhere with you guys. I'm also thinking to make this type of topic in every 'stage' to get more elements of fun.

Do you mean in Org Mode or Strategy Mode? Of course war, diplomacy, trading and terraforming will be in Strategy Mode. That's a given, really. But as for missions from other nations and the like, well that's sounds more Org Mode to me.
