How's about when you start a new game you get the option of auto-evo or manual-evo? And I don't mean like spores evolution, I mean slower and more realistic.

You would open a creature editor menu by mating, which would show your creature as it currently is. You would also have a tab that shows your planets current climate and show it's estimated climate changes- not telling, just predicting- so that the player can make changes accordingly. Like, say it predicted the temperature to drop. Then the player would be able to add fur to keep the creature warm.

The player would be able to edit their creature (within limits, maybe a points system?), and change it's color. But, instead of instantly changing every member of your species, it would only change a certain percentage of the species, where others will take their own evolutionary path.

Once the player has finished making their changes, they exit the editor and play as the next generation, or as the creature they were just playing as. After that, each generation will have small changes that work it towards the finished product, the creature they made in the editor.

Now, let's say they want to make some changes. You just mate to re-open the editor, make the changes, then exit. After that, the changes would start to work towards the new changes, rather than the old one.

I just thought I would share my ideas on how this would work. Hope you take it into consideration! Danke!

I am quite certain that very similar suggestions have been made around the forums. I'm sure it would be appreciated if you dug through the posts a tiny bit before you posted suggestions. I'm not saying go read every topic or anything over the top like that, but I'm getting deja vu more than usual.
I am unsure what we decided on on the subject of controlled evolution, but It was something similar to what you have said, unless it was cut out. I remember reading a thread about cells and multi-cellular organisms somewhere that would suggest otherwise...

That's basically what we've been talking about for two years now, minus the predictions. Kudos for thinking it up yourself, though.

...Oh. Sorry. I guess I was getting a little overly excited and got ahead of myself. ._.;;; This just seems like an amazing game and idea, and I was just trying to contribute. :/ My apologies. :/

It's okay. We've all been noobs sometime.

... Though, scio, I don't know if we actually have discussed whether or not predictions of future conditions would be made available in manual evo. We've been more hung up on auto-evo lately.

I don't think we should have them. Even if we create only one possible future, it's more fun to have a risk-reward system.

QFT. Allowing the player to see future conditions won't work, because disasters will occur randomly.

Yeah, just to clear this up. The Editor will use the natural trends of the planet to predict correct? Using the planet's natural climate change and cycles?
