I concur with all that Oliveriver has said. Let me elaborate on ExpressionEngine Core. It is a feature limited edition of ExpressionEngine, which is IMO, the best CMS (content management system). I consider myself proficient in EE and can assist in EE-izing the website.
The great part about EE is that ~sciocont, Nick, Doggit, or any other moderators can post updates in their respective areas of the website in separate feeds called "channels".
Anyway, once we get the base website running we may want to do a Skype call, Google+ hangout or similar to show the moderators how to interact with the website.
Lots of work is about to be done over the weekend, and I hope you guys like it! Tell us what you think, we really need your feedback, y'all are our test group
@RodGame, EE does support easy language translation!

Okay, thanks for the feedback. If there is no further discussion until the end of today, I'll merge the thread with the Misc. thread.

EE sounds like a great base for the site, as we are nonprofit. We'll release the bundles when the website is all nice and polished, and once I get some of the currently troublesome songs bundled up.

Awesome, ~sciocont. I'll get to work over the weekend and keep y'all updated on the progress. I think you'll love EE.

Little news Scio: I was been lurking at here, and i noticed facebook link for Thrive. Then, i had noticed something interesting (on our facebook site): Someone did say: Try spreading the word on Reddit. Post to /r/truegaming. That acttualy might reason why we get traffic flow.

Spreading the world in website like reddit is a good idea. However, I don't think it's really worth much at the moment.
We are revamping the wiki, we are building a good looking website, untrustedlife prototype is still in progress and the real game's framework is being worked on at a good pace. A month from now, the project will look different and much more interesting for newcomer.
We should wait a while before posting on reddit. This will only give a better idea of the project to people and will reduce the amount of question by having easier access to information. It will also increase the chance of having devloper interested in joining the project by seeing a good structure and some advancement.
There are other subreddit that could be interesting, like r/gamedev, r/truegamedev, r/spore...

Strangely, i found a Thrive on reddit.

r/Thrive has nothing to do with the game, in already checked.
I'm currently writing a post outlining the benefits of social media for Thrive and how we should handle things like Facebook, Twitter, and Reddit. I should be done in a day or two.

r/Thrive is dead. A request to r/redditrequest could be sent to take over the subreddit.
r/Thrivegame has been taken 3 months ago. Looking at the only post refering to "Belgium", it might be related to this forum. However no description/link is directly related to this forum.
Having a strategy in regard to social media is a good idea, go ahead with your post!

What would you guys say to doing a scheduled release of prototypes? First week, we release the music bundle, then the cell editor prototype, then the latest microbe stage prototypes? Or in another order, that would be fine by me. I think a scheme like that would generate a lot of interest.

Hmm... Sounds like a good idea actually. Purposely constricting supply increases demand! I like the idea of the Music Bundle first, then the cell editor, then the prototype with less features, and lastly the one with the most features. We should also announce the release on Facebook and Twitter!

I agree, release it in steps.
Also, as this is the Misc. thread, I would like to point out that all the graphics for the reply buttons and new topic buttons arent working for me. Anyone else getting this?

Me too. Sometimes they show up, sometimes not. Also the quote and edit buttons and once the Thrive logo. Might just be Forumotion server load though.

I noticed one thing about realism: Will, in creature stages (microbe, multicellular, aware, awakening) you go on editor when you mate and edit your organism, or it would function like auto-evo? Second one would be boring beacuse it would kill creativity, but would be more realistic.
I also suggest to microbe, multicellular, aware, and awakening stage would shortly be called organism stages, and other RTS stages.

@untrustedlife: Thanks!
@WilliamsTheJohn: You can edit whenever a new generation is born. For naming, since those are unofficial names, it really doesnt matter. I prefer to call them the Organism and Civilization stages.

The microbe prototypes are already live on the website, although if you want me to I could remove the links until you officially release them on ModDB. I think the Music Bundle should be officially released first. Let's be honest, to someone who has never played anything more basic than a fully featured blockbuster video game, the prototypes we have at the moment, while brilliantly coded and well on their way to becoming a full game, won't ignite their interest as much as the music, which is arguably one of the most complete parts of the development process at the moment (not that I'm biased or anything ). If you want to release in stages, I'm all for it, although I'll need to know which stage is being released when in order to adapt the website accordingly.
Also, on an unrelated note, I've been thinking about what other things need to be completed in order for us to have a professional-looking game. I'm talking about things such as the opening cinematic, menu screen and GUI's. While there are threads already concerning these topics, a few of them haven't been updated for years. If it's alright with everyone, I'd like to (necro)post on the thread for the opening cinematic, as I've got a few ideas for it.
EDIT: On another unrelated note, in our discussions about the website, WJacobC and I came up with the idea of having a sort of preview video for Thrive, showcasing some of the concept art and music. Well, here it is:
The music is a remix of hongchong7's original main theme (which basically defines awesome IMO ), but with different chords and added instruments. By listening to the original quite a lot, I was able to decipher the notes of the melody and piano arpeggio, and I've rearranged them to make this. Rather than replacing the original as the main theme, I think this would make a good theme for when you unlock God Tools and basically complete the game. As for the relation to the website, this is a preview video, so will be placed on the main page once EE is up and running to give visitors a sense of what the game is all about.

Wow. Fantastic job Oliver (if I may call you that). I haven't been able to watch it all the way through, but that will a fantastic addition to the website! Great work as normal.
@Gawbad, I've given considerable thought to that possibility and I have to say, there are many ways in which that makes plenty of sense.
