Well I was reading about the idea of organs you can place and edit on your creature and came up with this idea: what about if there was this "critical hit" system but with a slight twist; First, it's not about chances anymore, it's about where you hit. For example, if a creature A attacks at creature B:s hand, it won't do anything. But if the same creature A attacks creature B:s lungs, it will be a critical hit. Secondary, it would be also about what you attack. heart is a small organ and it's so hard to hit, even if you know where to hit, but heart is important organ, and so one or two hits would kill. But if we think about lungs, they are much more easier target, and hitting them would also give some debuffs, like "Hard to breathe" or something, and those debuffs wouldn't just go away in minute or two; it would take months, If your creature doesn't have any systems which make it possible to grow back body parts and greater injuries. Also those kinds of injuries could kill your creature, even if it didn't die at the fight where it got the injury. To take more hits and be more resistant to damage you would need to give your creature something to protect it's organs, for example bare bones as armor or rib cage.

I don't know if these are already discussed but I couldn't find anything about this. Please tell me what you think.

This is already going to be included in the game as creatures will be hurt at the contact point.

this is amazing, so now those bone plates' placement would actually matter.

I adore games that have damage engines that complex.

Was this an idea taken from Overgrowth's fantastically gore-filled way of presenting bodily damage, or was it meant to be a completely original idea?

Either way, the concept is fantastic.

Side note, because I'm a moron; I've been away from Thrive for literally one-billion years, I've seen the progress but I haven't looked at the forum very much - But I would like to ask a specific kind of question that I'm certain is already answered, where may I ask it? It's related to the armour and body structuring of a specific kind of creature.

Thank you, in advance.

In the meantime, we've developed the ability to actually BECOME creatures you make in real life, and we've been to several nearby solar systems!
