| In this thread goes whatever concept art you make.
---
This thread is for artists to post concept images of what modellers will create. It's not just to post fan art.

Anyways, here's the links, just to be safe. Red-Bellied Clinger Long-Necked Shuffler
I did both of these for school, but i had always planned on uploading them as concept art for this project. | |

| Just post links
Gamer, could you possibly post a link to a picture? Many people, including me, don't have WinRAR installed. | |

| Wow! Those drawings are good! We should put them in advertisement, as long as they are clearly marked as concept art. | |

| Are these concepts for NPC's? If so, I could start designing models of them right now. | |

| In other words, everything will be evolving so every time you start a new game you will, over time get a totally unique result. As far as I know there won't be any static beings that are preset and don't evolve so you won't have to see those big-headed, big-eyed little green men in blue jumpsuits every single time you start a new game.
Which is good but very, very time-consuming. | |

| That may be so, but by the time we get to programming that, we should be progressing at a much better pace, and it is worth the time, the effort, and the stuff. -Waap.

Perhaps you could model them as concept art? if you can rig them and set up a good render, that'll be a cool advertising image. | |

| Been Playing around with Terragen, If I ever get a decent looking render I'll post some shots here You can make some cool alien-like landscapes You can use it for commercial use if you register ( I think its free) But seeing as Thrive is planning to be free, I trust that its not really counted as commercial Heres the site for Terragen, if you ahvent heard of it http://www.planetside.co.uk/ EDIT: Heres a quick Northen Sunset I whiped up. Im sure once I get the right feel for it I could make much better images... lso had some problems with the horizon sutting off in the render... But as of now its just a draft Clicky for bigger image ^ I think we could get some cool alien landscape concept art going if people use programs like this

Terragen Classic Its really really easy to use Plus you get a small preview of what it looks like before you render it so you dont have to wait the 10 minutes that it tkaes to render EVERY time you want to see how it looks. Terragen 2 is MUCH more sophistcated but I found it too complex... Heres some renders from more talented terragen users. It shows the potential it has for concept art Mountain Lake with Ringed Planet Alien Geology Heres the terragen site: www.planetside.co.uk EDIT: Heres another sort of tropical one I did with a heightmap I made in photoshop... Although the full render turned out way too jagged =/ Still not particulary high quality, but I've now learnt how to modify the textures furthermore Im working on an alien night scene now | |

| I've been combining these Terragen render images with photoshop stuff Its not exactly high wuality... but I guess its given me good practise... I need to work on better texts I guess... and the gas giant didnt come out perfect And with not-so-high-quality Thrive text: https://2img.net/r/ihimizer/img811/8690/thrivegasgiant.jpg https://2img.net/r/ihimizer/img684/830/moonjunglecopy.jpg Feel free to put them to any use you can find (Don't worry I know they ain't anywhere near top quality ) | |

| Are you making a sphere? Or just flat terrain?
When I look at that, I think "Heightmap blatantly intersecting with shiny surface." I think I can make something like that.
All we need are:
Skyboxes, Terrain textures, and Cloud Maps.
If we could have somebody create those, I could get to work on the thrive terrain generator. | |

Terragen Classic, the one I used for those images renders the terrain on a flat surface, Terragen 2 whcih is much more complex renders it on a sphere If I can find SOme tutorials on how to make skyboxes, cloudmaps, etc I'll have a go at practicing and making some... What sor of specs would they have to be? The actual Thrive Terrain Generatior... That would be a good way to get some nice true concept art :] | |

| For skyboxes/skyspheres and textures (both tiled and normal), you can look at CG Textures. With a free account, you can download 15mb per day and textures up to 640x640 (tiled) or 5000x5000 (normal). Of course it's not an end solution, but it will do great for now. | |
