| So if I were to make some creatures on Spore (Preferably ones without googly eyes and giant flowers), Render them with Maya and chuck them in some rendered landscapes, perhaps that could make some cool concept art? Only problem is I don't have Maya nor the ability to use it Does someone want brownie points? If so, feel free to render any of my more realistic creatures and I will make concept art from the render. Do it on a white BG if possible (Or No BG if that is possible) :] Maybe the colors on the last two are a bit bright to be realistic... If anyone has realistic creature renders already I will try add them in some scenery :] P.S: Is that breaching any copy right laws? I wouldn't of thought so... I mean does Spore own the right to my creature designs? D: | |

I don't think so, only as much as we own the right to designs people make on Thrive, which I assume we don't have much. Maxis only owns the game, you own your ideas.

Try doing the different editor tabs for the same creature.

Space dragon.... coulndt come up with a better name. This massive thing floats around open space feeding on residual readiation and converting it to atp cell energy. Evolved form microgravity world. Sheer size is makes it easy to get enough enegry from the space around.

Sheer size is makes it easy to get enough enegry from the space around. Setting aside actual feasibility of this evolving, it's great! Are those eyes on the front, or something else? And those things on the side, like big... Nostrils? Those surround-fin-like (what's the word?) things for movement, would they work in space, with nothing to push against? Are you just making up the answers now in your head, as you read this, or have you had an idea from the drawing stage? Overall, reminds me of the Starwhale (from doctor who), but... Cooler, more... Real-lifeistic. P.S. What is a micro-gravity world? A dwarf planet? A dwarf dwarf planet? Or am I completely wrong?

| Could be eyes, could also be advanced radiation receptors.
Of course it would work. Even our latest sattelites are using a thing called membrane moved by the photons. This would use the same idea. It has various mandibules in case it needed to consume a planet of an asteroid for extra energy =))).
A microgravity world is, for instance, a small sattelite of a massive planet. This makes the total gravitation on the planet less than 1g, but still allows atmosphere due to high speed of revolution =).
I had a rough idea in my head since the beginning.

| I think these solar sails might need to be somewhat bigger to noticeably affect the creature, also the tail could have a sail for maneuvering.
But I really love the concept. Awesome, awesome-awesome work!
By the way, how does it get into space (and back)?

| Very well done! However, I must remind that this is VERY unlikely and probably not the best thing to show off when trying to attract attention. We don't want to create false expectations.
Also, is that little orb supposed to be Earth, as in for scale? In that case: LOL.
If the different things on the right are supposed to be the different tabs from the editor, I couldn't tell which was which.
All in all, I think this might make a better sea creature than a space creature.

| Yeah, the circle is earth..... hihiihihihi
Oh thas right I forgot I had to do it like the editor! =(
Well basically, I thought, at later stages of the game the evolution gives you three (or more) options to chose from and apply to the creature... Not to edit it piece by piece, but to use the accumulated progress =P

Not how we're doing it, to my knowledge. I was of the mind that Auto-Evo would be a background function, causing changes from generation to generation. You would never influence it outside of your in-game actions. Direct edits are a bit more contravercial, but the idea is still simple: you go into the editor, and can only make so many changes (Detected through Share Code comparison). In any case, I don't think I've ever heard of what you're describing.

In any case, I don't think I've ever heard of what you're describing. Well, there has been some suggestion of the "select-a-branch" method, but there have been very few followers of that. Most people like Auto-Evo or Direct Edit. But this is not the thread for discussion of that.

Drew this critter at school. Sorry if I haven't been sending drawings lately (school and all).
I'm quite a fan of unipedal creatures, they look so awsome! This one has lost it's legs because of the lack of use. It's tail evolved into a leg. It has a grasper on it's forehead to grab fruit in bushes. It's about the size of a dog.

| Finally, I drew an alien (head?) that looks anything close to believable!
It started when I popped open my aging Spore: the Evolution book that was starting to gather dust. See, this one was more focused on the old, 2005 Spore and its concepts, the Spore that could have been--but we all know how that turned out.
Much of my inspiration came from the concept art from the book, and I jotted down some sketches on paper. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten around to scanning them. But the last of my creativity for the moment was drawn on that paper, until I looked at Gotrol's space dragon. You can clearly see, it looks a lot like it could be on that same dragon, although it looks rather uninspired, but it's a good start, so here goes nothing..
https://2img.net/r/ihimizer/img146/1605/allin.png
As you can see, I used Paint. Why? Because that's what I use when I get bored. I was clearly bored here, just bored and inspired.

| LONGPOST
This is a little brainstorm on how you would view and edit the creatures in Thrive. For the purpose of demonstration I drew a saddled (domesticated) “slug-dragon”. (We are having domesticated creatures in Thrive amiright? )
http://gotrol.deviantart.com/gallery/26943847#/d33b6zy
You would have 6 (Yes six, I only drew number 7 because I’m an asshole who failed and counting lol)
Button number 1- that’s the general overview of the creature, you can’t edit in this mode, you can only point and click to see how its animated.
Button 2- opens a general creature system editor. On the picture I decided to change that conventional mouth to various mandibles and removing nostrils (leaving the creature without abilities to smell), but changing eyes to give it better field of view. In this mode you can also enlarge, or shrink different parts of the animal (sort of like spore) using various default systems (also like spore). You can also color different parts.
Button 3- Moves you to attribute editor. There you can select form of reproduction, how the creature feeds, what it feeds on, blood temperature (as in cold or hot blooded), blood form (as in hemoglobin, etc.), age (time it takes to fully grow) and general color, excluding the colored details from the previous menu. In this mode you can also set the size of the creature.
Button 4- (only available if the creature is domesticated) Moves you to a mode where you can edit different details of the creature’s harness, saddle(s), or any other signs of domestications. You can select details form the ones that your culture developed ONLY. In this mode you cannot color the details since they are developed in a different editor.
Button 5- (only available if the creature is domesticated) Moves you to a mode where you can select harnesses form several predetermined ones generated automatically by your culture. In this mode you can also select material, color, and size of the signs of domestication.
Button 6- (labeled 7 on the picture by the Idiot of me) Something special for advanced users who want to get the maximum from the biological aspect of the game. This mode allows you to edit the select systems of the creature (like eyesight, hearing, reproduction etc.) in depth and detail. For instance on the picture I decided to morph the reproduction system (depicted poorly) with the nose. In this mode you add extra hearts, perhaps switch the blood system altogether etc.
